STROMNESS GOLF CLUB – LADIES’ SECTION
There was a tremendous turnout of 23 ladies on Saturday morning for round twelve of the winter league and the scoring was fantastic. We are now playing over a shorter course with winter greens and tees and although shorter the greens were tricky.
The scores were so good that anyone coming in with a 34 nett and expecting to get points was sadly disappointed. Ann Sinclair and Moira Groundwater shared top spot with brilliant scores of 30 nett for which they both received a handicap chop of 5 and received 5.5 points. In 3rd equal, again with fantastic scores, were Doreen Garson and Tina Smith both on 31 nett. They both received 3.5 points and a handicap chop of four. There was then a four-way tie for 5th place with Marina Stanger, Lynn Slater, Ann Oag and Shona Slater all with great scores of 33 nett and 1 point each and a chop of 2. This remarkable scoring is only the second time since the winter golf leagues began that all of the points went to players playing below their handicaps. Lynn had a birdie at the 7th and Tina a 2 at the 8th. Shona had the best gross of the day with 38. Well played ladies!
